There's something endlessly likable about this film, and it never gets old to watch. In this day and age I rarely rave about a children's film because so many of them are awful. Growing up, I watched practically every animated Disney classic you can think of including Pixar films, but then a dreaded year called 2005 came around. This was one of the worst years in the history of cinema and it unleashed a tidal wave of awfulness which included two animated films; Chicken Little and Madagascar. I absolutely hate both of these films which almost completely destroyed my liking for animated films. Then 2006 came around and I was treated to Happy Feet, which would go down as the worst film I've ever seen and would earn the lowest score I've ever handed a product on this site (0 out of 10). Then 2007 dropped the utterly terrible Meet the Robinsons film smack dab in my lap. These films are the reasons why I watch almost nothing but films that would make a parent cringe if their kids watched them. But then, I came across this film, and out of curiosity I decided I wanted to see it. It felt like a splash of much-needed cold water to the face and proved to me I can still have hope for the future animated films. Foolish me, I shouldn't have doubted Pixar films.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT: This film takes place somewhere in the year 2800. Earth is a barren wasteland of garbage where virtually no life is present, except for a little robot named Wall-E who more than 700 years ago along with a number of other robots was tasked with cleaning up all of the garbage on Earth by crushing it into cubes and and piling it up. Now he along with a small bug are the only living things on the planet and he goes through a daily routine of crushing garbage, piling it up, and collecting anything of interest to him. While he's going through garbage one day he finds a small plant inside of a refrigerator, puts it in a shoe and puts inside of him. Then a mysterious ship lands on the planet and lone robot called Eva is left there. Her goals as it turns out is to find any source of life that would prove that Earth would be finally habitable. Wall-E is afraid to approach Eva because she is armed with a powerful laser gun that can destroy large objects with no problem. But when a sandstorm comes around, he takes Eva back to his home where he shows her around and then shows her the plant he found. She acts strangely, takes the plant, and then appears to go into a sleep mode with a strange flashing green sign on her. Days later, the mysterious ship returns and takes Eva back, but Wall-E follows the ship and hangs on for dear life as he is taken into space to a strange ship. The people on board have been living there for 700 years and have gotten morbidly obese and rely on moving chairs and a computer screens to get them through daily life while the machines run most of everything else. From then on, Wall-E and Eva are taken on one crazy adventure that's very memorable and very enjoyable.
MUSIC: The music in this film was highly enjoyable and very well done. It fit well with the tone of the film.
ACTING: The voice-actors were pretty good and the dialogue and humor was funny as well. I have no gripes with this area, Pixar has always done a good job of finding talented actors.
ACTION: This film could be crazy at times and was rarely boring to watch. The only boring part of the film was the beginning which started slow. However, the film quickly picks up steam afterwards and you will be treated to a highly entertaining film. My biggest complaint against the film however, is the fact it felt as if they didn't take the story as far as it could have gone.
OVERALL: If you love Pixar films or just good films in general, Wall-E is a must-see. Both kids and adults will get a kick out of this film because it's endlessly likable in almost every way. It is flawed, but those are easy to overlook. This is easily one of the best animated films of the decade, no question.
THE GOOD: Stunning CGI animation, great music, good storyline, good humor, good actors, and plenty of action to go around.
THE BAD: Slow beginning and it felt as if Pixar didn't take the film as far as it could have gone.

Pixar has never faulted in making great films that can last, Wall-E is no different. Every Pixar movie is so so creatively different than the previous film that its impossible to guess what is next. Wall-E is much different than previous Pixar films as it goes into the future and space, something only mentioned before.
Wall-E gives us all a lesson on protecting the planet. It is thousands of years into the future and earth is no longer habitable from the pollution and junk littered throughout the landscape. Wall-E discovers a plant which leads to an adventure in space with the many humans living on a spaceship. This movie hardly has much dialogue which makes it more creative and in some ways a better movie. Mainly it is a family movie but it is fun to watch for all ages. Pixar has once again made a great hit and it will last for many years to come.
On the DVD: the case itself is eco-friendly which makes it easier to accidently break. The DVD also has only a small bit of special features. But if you just want to watch a movie go ahead and look for the single disc version in a normal DVD case. If you want extra content get the three disc version, but this does have two short films and deleted scenes, but these features don't last very long.

I saw "Wall-E" some years ago on an airplane flight, and it caught my attention from the beginning. Pixar managed to tell a story where there is virtually no dialogue in the first half of the movie, and only 2 characters. Three, if you count the cockroach. And, yet, it works beautifully, like a modern CGI silent movie. The dialogue begins once the movie reaches about the halfway point, and we enter the _Axiom_. The artwork and direction is outstanding, and the story held my interest. The environmental thing is a little annoying, but living in the Bay Area, I'm somewhat inured to green-y hectoring as background noise, so I just filter a lot of that out. Plus, how can you not love any movie that has a "Rogue Robots!" alert in it?
My 2 year old didn't enjoy it as much as me. She didn't hate it; she was simply bored by the first part of the movie due to the lack of dialogue. Unlike "Nemo," where she ran around for days afterward demanding to see "Nemo, Nemo, Nemo!" over and over again, I didn't hear "Nemo" or "Eva" at all after the movie was over. "Wall-E" isn't inappropriate for a 2 year old by any means, but may be just a little over their heads. It's great for adults, but you may want to wait until your kids are 4-5 if you want them to enjoy this.

I am a 26 year old guy that listens to hard rock and is not a big fan of animated movies. When a movie says it's for "the family" it usually means it's for kids and they throw in a few jokes only adults will get so they won't lose their freaking minds when they're sitting through it with their 5-year-old. Those movies don't hold my attention.
So please understand how significant it is that this one very much did.
It is not a movie FOR kids. Don't get me wrong. Kids will love it because it has cute little robots throughout, and nothing even remotely offensive. However the plot is not about cartoon cars getting ready for the big race or moving, talking toys. (nothing wrong with that, just not as much my cup of tea) And that is where the genius lies. The plot deals with humans who are becoming more and more lazy, trashing our planet, things that are actually happening. Things that are not only entertaining in this context, but are important. It is not only an interesting concept with (REALLY) amazing animation and a robot love story. It takes humanity and looks into an almost science-fiction, but yet unfortunately a not too terribly unbelievable journey hundreds of years into our future. It's a rare occasion, and possibly the first for an animated film, to not just be a great movie. But to be an important one. And I believe Wall-e has accomplished that.
This is a classic movie any way you slice it. It may be difficult for some to endure with its lack of dialogue. But once it gets rolling, it will keep your attention and make you think about us as a human race, not to mention keep a smile on your face the whole time. Get it.

I love walle, so I don't mind if my kids love it too. It has become the movie of the month--we watch it every day because my 3 and 4 yr old ask for it every day. Last month is was shrek 2 and before that Nemo. Walle is a great movie, but again, the disk is defective-- I have to start it five or ten times before it actually runs through. I'll be asking for a replacement.
